The ASCII character code set contains 128 coded characters (0 to 127 decimal value: 7-bits) including the printable alphabetic, numeric characters as well as control and graphic characters. The printable characters 32 to 126 are listed below.

The ASCII codes have been extended to include system and country specific characters: known as the Unicode standard.

The first 128 Unicode characters are compatible with the ASCII characters. Therefore ASCII is a proper subset of Unicode.

Note that the numeric entity value can be generated from the Decimal value, example: " renders as " and & renders as &.
