Answers to some frequently asked questions.

How do I access the source code of the snippets on this site?

Each snippet is accompanied with its own text file containing the source code. Click on the 'Get text file of source code' link to obtain the text file. (This link is on every page that displays the source code of the snippet.) The text file contains the complete code as demonstrated in the 'Output view' on that page including any surrounding XHTML.

Can I use the snippets to improve my own website?

Of course. A credit to justfigures.co.uk would be nice. You must retain any credits that are already in the snippet. What you cannot do is republish the material ... for a commercial purpose. This is normal to stop the complete copying of this site and hosting elsewhere by others without putting in all the hours of work. You can view the Terms & Conditions page for all the standard legal speak, most sites will have or should have terms similar to these.

Who built and maintains this site?

This site was built and is maintained by me: David Beet. My son gives me feedback on usability, design and content. See the About page.

Where does the time come from to maintain and improve the site?

Evenings and weekends and any other spare time I can find.

Where does the money come from to maintain and improve the site?

From my day job. A little comes from the Google advertisements which are kept to a minimum.

Where does the content and code snippets come from?

From my knowledge and experience. Some are from other sources and are credited if that is the case.

If I run or view a snippet from this site will it do harm to my computer?

No, not as far as I can possibly know. This site is attempting to be a code snippet library for website developers. All the code is tested on my system first. No contributed snippets are placed on this site without thorough testing first. There is no benefit to me to jeopardize your system by introducing code snippets that will knowingly do harm to a user's computer.

If I give you my email address in one of the forms what will you use it for?

To return one email to say 'Thank You'. Most of the forms do not actually require you to give any personal information, we just would be happy to hear from you and your views on this site. You can view the Privacy Policy page that sets out our legal requirements. Most sites will have or should have a policy similar to this.

If I contribute a code snippet to this site will I get credit for it?

Of course if you wish. You may place your credit in comments within the contributed script and we will keep it there.
